Wrongful Death Suit Filed After Incident Involving Drunk Driver

Wrongful Death

A wrongful death suit has been filed for two of three victims who were killed by a drunk driver.

The driver had taken a bus trip to Reading Pennsylvania, where he attended a hockey game drinking to the point of intoxication. Even though he displayed obvious signs of drunkenness, servers continued to bring him drinks, which is a violation of Pennsylvania law.

Following the game, the defendant was transported back to his car via the bus. The bus stopped at several bars along the way, and video shows that by the time the man arrived at his car he had difficulty standing, let alone driving. He admits to having consumed 15-20 beers during the evening and to having very little recollection of the night’s events. However, once he got in his car, he drove at excessive speed, finally colliding with another car. All three passengers in the other car were killed. They were returning from a wake for a deceased grandmother.

The wrongful death suit has been filed against the driver, the bus company, the bar at which the game was watched, and the bars where the driver consumed more beverages on his way home. The companies that sponsored the sports outing were also named in the suit, with damages demanded in excess of $50,000.

The wrongful death suit was filed by the families of two victims who were in the car that was hit. Whether the family of the third victim has filed a separate suit is not clear.

One individual was celebrating while three others were grieving on the night of the accident. However, the accident that resulted from the driver’s drinking brought tragedy to the families of all who were involved.

If your loved one died due to the negligence or actions of another, you deserve compensation for your losses. While nothing can replace the loss you have suffered, a civil remedy can help offset some of the resulting financial difficulties you face.
