News and Case Results

Ohio law firm of Slater & Zurz The Ohio law firm of Slater & Zurz LLP played an integral role on a legal team that successfully helped a group of Ohio sales representatives receive the commissions and bonuses they earned for work they performed for Safe Auto Insurance Company.

In this class action suit, the group of sales representatives was compelled to take action against Safe Auto Insurance Co. for arbitrarily changing compensation programs that significantly reduced the commissions and bonuses these sales representatives had earned for Safe Auto. In addition to the reduced commissions on new insurance policies, Safe Auto also retained  commissions due on renewal policies these sales representatives had originally sold and were due to receive.

Monroe County, Ohio Court Judge Julie Selmon ruled in the case of John Lucio, et al., plaintiffs vs. Safe Auto Insurance Co., et al, defendants, for the sales representatives (plaintiffs), awarding the group commissions they had earned plus interest. The case was ultimately settled for $6.75 million.
